We strive to find a balance between the use of natural materials, traditional methods, and modern resources. We are diligent about where our materials come from, how they are cultivated, and whose caring hands they pass through.
The pillows covers from our Sensory Collection, for example, are 100% made in Italy. We work with an atelier that ensures high-quality craftsmanship in optic fiber weaving. By keeping the whole production localized, there is less transport of goods and fewer carbon emissions.

The organic cotton we use for pillow inserts and poufs come from a batting mill in Texas, ‘one of only three in the United States that is certified to produce organic cotton batting under strict GOTS certification rules’. No toxic chemicals are used in the farming of organic cotton. It doesn’t damage the soil, has less impact on the air, and consumes significantly less water and less energy as compared to conventional cotton.
You will find that all our products have traceable and ethical origins.
These are just some of the many ways we uphold our brand values.
We will always aim to work with skilled craftsmen to support smaller communities that thrive from their hands and years of specialist knowledge. We think this is a clever and sustainable way to encourage more people to earn from what they enjoy and take pride in what they do.
Among other tinkers and tailors, we’re featuring the works of South Australian ceramic artist Nikki Dowdell. Her clay ceramics match the Sao style — they have ‘a sense of the natural and organic, sometimes muted and understated, but predominantly colorful and playful’.
Our pillow inserts are made here in New York State by skilled individuals at Arc Herkimer, a private non-profit agency that has been empowering and employing people with disabilities since 1969.

Our multi-purpose sisal baskets are hand-woven by members of the Jora Women Group in Kasigau, Kenya.
Our polychromatic rugs and poufs that are made from recycled sari garments are sourced through Solid, a non-profit organization that helps break the cycle of poverty by giving underprivileged women honest work in Ranchi, India.
Small batch productions also allow us to oversee the quality of every single artwork, without adding to the heavy environmental pollutants emitted by large commercial mills.
Our living and working spaces contribute to our broader well-being. We want to decorate inviting spaces with you by offering home decor and accents that are appealing to the senses, useful, and will last years.
